Two weeks in Tuscany: Week 1

Categories: ,

With ~3 weeks until we can move into our new apartment, we decided to go somewhere we know that we like: Tuscany. We booked an Agriturismo (basically a farm that produces food/wine and also has a hotel) about an hour outside of the Pisa airport in the Chianti region and hoped for the best. It wasn’t perfect, but it was still pretty great. We still had to do a fair amount of work to line up furniture for the new place, get the lease signed and also Jen needed to close on her DRSI building lease, so it was busy, but the food, weather, and beautiful surroundings were a great way to recover from a rough couple of weeks in London.

We stayed in a tiny place called Teunuta di Sticciano. It was beautiful, but it was about a 10 minute drive on a dirt road from a tiny town that had maybe one restaurant. You had to go ~30 minutes to get to a real town, but that was also small (Certaldo). Very beautiful, but we definitely had to plan ahead for meals! We also visited Sienna, Florence, San Gigmagano and some other small towns and were amazed at how low key and not crowded everything was. Lots of pictures below:
